My Jackson Hole story: Filled a seat at the NBC affiliate news desk in Bozeman, MT after college. Realizing the path of broadcast journalism was not for me (but mountain-life was), I found myself in sales and marketing at Big Sky Resort, MT. A hospitality career scored me zip codes in Coeur d’Alene, ID, Newport Beach, CA and led me to Jackson Hole in 2005. Met my husband before I even unpacked. Everything about this place was home.

Fitness journey:

Age 0-17: Born with jazz hands. Crushed my quirky youth (based off my parents’ opinions) with dance lessons, skiing, baton twirling, cheerleading and teaching my first step-aerobics class.

20’s: Fell in love with playing in the mountains. Hiking for turns, running the trails, riding the pavement and crossing finish lines. Experienced my first Schwinn® Indoor Cycling Instructor cert and was sold.

30’s: Needed more “why” for movement so I became a Personal Trainer. Completed Ironman Couer d’alene. Opened VIM. Fell in love with the sport of rowing (inside and on the water).

40s: Train smart. Build, not break myself. Help others do the same.

From the first grapevine, I knew I had the power to better lives and make people smile in the process. The rest is history still in the making.

When not at VIM: I think about VIM. No, really. I’m obsessed with my business. Otherwise, I soak up precious time with my two kiddos and amazing husband who help keeps the ship afloat. You’ll also find me traveling the country as a Schwinn® Master Trainer, providing the best in Indoor Cycling and coaching education.

Specializations: Ride, Strength

My Jackson Hole story: I left Alaska in 2011 with no real plan or next steps for life except a stop in New England to see my family and maybe look for a job. At that time my older brother encouraged me to visit him in Jackson and serendipity took over. Jackson is where I found my career, my soulmate/dog Lucy, my husband Casey, a group of incredible friends, and my love for training (myself and others). Jackson is my home.

Fitness journey: Growing up in Maine, I was always an athlete and loved to be outside in the woods and the mountains, whether it was skiing, hiking, or playing sports. Throughout college and after, I mountain biked and ran a few 1/2 and full marathons, but I had never really pushed myself beyond the bare minimum while training and hadn't been exposed to corrective and preventative strength training. After a life-changing event on my 30th birthday, I made being my best self a priority. This meant taking care of my health in a new way, which opened my eyes to strength training and the positive results it brought to my performance as an athlete as well as my everyday mental and physical health. I became passionate about this way of life and eventually wanted to share it with others. I love the confidence that being strong brings to people. Nothing makes me happier than helping clients train to accomplish things they would have otherwise thought impossible.

When not at VIM: Keeping Jackson Hole wild, open and connected. As the Director of Advancement and Engagement at the Jackson Hole Land Trust, my “day job” is to support land conservation in NW Wyoming. I am also a strength coach at Wright Training. When I’m not at my desk or the gym, you can find me training for endurance mountain bike races, trail running in the Tetons, hiking with my dog, or rowing my fly fishing-obsessed husband down the river.

Most don’t know: I'm not a morning person. Training people gets me out of bed. If it wasn't for all my bright-eyed morning motivators, I would be up until 2 AM every night binge-watching Bachelor in Paradise (or something equally as terrible).

My Jackson Hole story: My family has been coming to Jackson since the 90s and moved to Wilson from the Chicago suburbs in 2014. I moved to the Valley to join my family after graduating Colgate University in 2017. The lure of endless skiing and hiking was too much to pass up and I have made Jackson my permanent home.

Fitness journey: I started playing ice hockey at 4 years old, from there I have played sports across the board including rowing and rugby. In Jackson, I play ice hockey in the winter and rugby in the summer. I fell in love with indoor cycling a number of years ago and want to show others how the sport can make you push yourself to work harder and feel better. It also makes me stronger and faster on the pitch and on the ice. I rowed for 4 years throughout high school and became a coxswain in college - winning a few titles along the way! I enjoy using the rowing machine to exercise still; it's a full body workout that you just can't replicate!

When not at VIM: I am president of Jackson Hole Women’s Rugby and fill my summers on the pitch. I also enjoy mountain biking and hiking. Come winter, I skate and ski - spending time at JHMR and in the backcountry.

Most don’t know: I am incredibly uncoordinated on a road bike and have crashed into many creeks and trees while getting around town.

My Jackson Hole story: Long story short, my future husband and I got sick of city life in Austin, TX in 2022 and scooted up to Jackson with our dog, Granola, after finding job opportunities. We always wanted to be back in the mountains but did not imagine it would be THESE mountains. He proposed our first weekend here and we've been living in this little slice of Teton heaven ever since!

Fitness journey: I have always been active and played many sports growing up--mainly tennis. I started trail running and mountain biking in college. After a few years of being an OT, I had a passion for bridging the gap between rehab and fitness and decided to become a certified personal trainer in 2021. It propelled me into teaching group fitness allowing me to appreciate variety and the incredible ways we can improve our strength, resilience, and health. Gotta keep it interesting!

Most don’t know: I used to train Muay Thai. After tearing my ACL skiing, I took up boxing because I waited to have surgery and couldn't kick without pain. Boxing for 7 months before my surgery got me in the best shape of my life and became very meditative for me. I learned so much about my breath and fell in love with the sport.

+ MARYLOU BERRA

Specializations: Barre

My Jackson Hole story: After years of visiting a best friend from college (Bear Down!), I decided to stay and I’m so happy I did. Small town living is a welcomed change from 20+ years of New York and Los Angeles!

Fitness journey: I spent most of my childhood, and much of my adulthood, in a dance studio. I’m not ready to give up all those years of training just yet, so I put it to use in the barre studio. My grand jetés may no longer be grand, but my port-de-bras is still pretty solid.

When not at VIM: I fill my days as a Director of Operations. When I’m not buried in spreadsheets, you’ll find me in the barn with my horse, Dakota. For fun, I’m a sucker for live music.

Most don’t know: I love to travel, but I don’t love to fly. As an attempt to overcome this fear, I went skydiving. My plan didn’t work which I attribute to the engine dying, along with my unwarranted, irrational fear. I apologize in advance if you are unlucky enough to sit next to me, especially as we fly in and out of our sweet little airport. The Tetons may be magical, but they are my worst nightmare at high elevation.

Specializations: Ride, Barre, Yoga, Strength

My Jackson Hole story: I moved to Jackson in ‘99 to trail run, ski, hike, backpack, be with my husband, Scott, and just be outside. I am very much an outdoor person. My first job here was ski lesson sales at JHMR.

Fitness journey: During my high school and college years I was an avid in running road races mostly for the beer! That led to a lifetime of running. I also competed in figure skating, field hockey, alpine skiing, tennis, and cross country. After landing in Jackson, I went to my first yoga class (after a day on the trails) and signed up immediately to be an instructor! It felt so good for my body. I have always enjoyed fitness and sharing/ teaching others makes the best sense. It is rewarding to inspire any athlete. Fitness has been an incredible journey through my years in Jackson. I enjoy learning new modalities and being in constant awareness of what fitness does for myself and others.

When not at VIM: I am gardening, cooking, and studying nutrition, experimenting with ferments, traveling, on the trails, or spending time with my family. I like to think I am always inspiring others to be the best they can be in body and mind. Mostly, I want to share appreciation for this incredible Jackson Hole.

Most don’t know: Things that I love, in no particular order, creating playlists, playing with my family, France and the French language, foraging, tennis, random acts of kindness, jumping on a trampoline, writing cards instead of texting, the color yellow, deep tissue massages (any body work really), good listeners, and rare date nights with my husband. In the summer I am always making flower bouquets for others and have several around my own house. I do not like scary movies but I love movie popcorn!

My Jackson Hole story: I am a Jackson Hole native. Left in 91’ for college and to spread my wings. My wings brought me back here in 2002.

Fitness journey: I grew up skiing at the Village before the Disney lines and gondola serenade. Met a Spinning® instructor in Dallas and started my indoor cycling journey dropping the seat and basically riding like my knees would last forever.

When not at VIM: I love spending time with my husband, Dan, and daughters, Dylan and Izzy. Since turning 50 in 2023 I’ve been pushing myself get out of my comfort zone. My current obsession is cold plunging. The Snake at 36 degrees is special.

Specializations: Ride, Row, Strength, Pre/Postnatal

My Jackson Hole story: I moved to Jackson Hole from New York City in 2014. I guess you could say I swapped 24/7 access to Ukrainian diners for endless access to trails and rivers (a tough, but great trade).

Fitness journey: After retiring from 10 years of rowing, staying active remained a really important part of my life. Being a fitness instructor has helped me be more knowledgeable about the balance between strength and cardio, indoors and outdoors, and high- and low-intensity workouts and how to manage shifts in that balance in response to injuries, work schedules, kids, injuries from kids, etc.

When not at VIM: On a good day: trail running and then playing with my daughter while my husband cooks something delicious. On a bad day: dealing with a cranky child and wondering why in the [deleted string of expletives] the fridge is empty.

Most don’t know: I am equally likely to be rocking out to The Band or Beyoncé during a workout.

My Jackson Hole story: Rolled through JH on my way to a Grateful Dead show in Oregon in the early 90’s. I had a friend in town and immediately fell in love with the mountain scape and single track riding. In need of a fresh start, I returned just two weeks later with my car packed ready to build a life in the Tetons. I have remained here since playing, working, building my life and my family.

Fitness journey: I played plenty of sports as a child but was outstanding at none. After a lazy stint in high school I became interested in body building while working at Gold’s Gym. I trained and competed in a few competitions in Colorado as a 19 year old teen. In college I bought my first mountain bike, a Bridgestone MB2 and fell in love with the sport. I competed on a local team and had a blast on the downhill trails at the foothills of the Rockies in Fort Collins, Colorado. Always an avid skier, the move to Jackson propelled me into much more aggressive skiing, snowboarding and telemarking solidly for the past 27 years. Paragliding, hiking and more currently surfing are some of my passions. Throughout all of it, the staple in my life has been yoga. For over 20 years, I have had a daily practice and have been teaching others in group classes, teacher trainings, workshops and retreats. With a history of classic yoga and body building, I teach a variety of styles that range from therapeutic yoga to high intensity strength training.

When not at VIM: I’m playing in the sun with my two golden retrievers and two spunky children. I also love cooking and gardening and am an avid orchid lover. We spend a lot of time camping and surfing Jackson Lake in the summer and in the winter I am a Teton Village Rat.

My Jackson Hole story: I am incredibly lucky to have been born and raised in Jackson Hole, I went to boarding school in Beverly Massachusetts for my sophomore, junior and senior years of high school and college in California but quickly came home after. Jackson has all of the things I love, and I am lucky to call it home!

Fitness journey: I grew up skiing, hiking, biking, and playing lacrosse but never really cared about fitness. When I moved home after college, I started taking group strength training classes at a local gym and was instantly addicted. It gave me a confidence I’d never really had and showed how strong I could be. Not to mention how great it made me feel while doing all of my activities. I love how fitness brings all sorts of different people together with the same goal of moving our bodies!

When not at VIM: You can find me outside with my sweet (but pretty rude) dog, possibly fishing with my husband but mostly likely biking, hiking or skiing with my friends.

Most don’t know: I have 4 siblings that I’m obsessed with. I hate worms. I’ve been watching The Office for the last 10 years.

My Jackson Hole story: I grew up in Georgia and did all the things – graduated college, got a job, got a real estate license, volunteered in my spare time and played on the weekends. I moved to Jackson the summer of 2012 and realized I had not done all the things. I flew home at the end of that summer and within 2 months figured out a way to make Jackson my forever home.

Fitness journey: I’ve always had a passion for exercise and fitness, and maybe a slight obsession with certifications (hence the real estate license). After receiving a Bachelors in Exercise and Health Science I decided to get my NASM Personal Training Certification so I could share my passion with others.

Fitness can be intimidating but it doesn’t have to be. There is so much fun to be had!

When not at VIM: Most days you’ll find me hanging with my husband, 2 kiddos and 2 fur babes. We hike, we bike, and play outside.

Real Life: I’m usually somewhere between my 9-5, chauffeuring kids, making lunches, googling brain building kid activities, vacuuming dog hair and gold fish out of my car, or planning some fun new stuff for HIIT.

Most don’t know: I love to cook and I eat meat, but I don’t like to cook meat.

My Jackson Hole story: Jackson Hole became my home in the summer of 1995. As a new single mom, I knew this was the place I wanted to raise my daughter. The mountains took my immediately took my breath away and still do. The amazing skiing and incredible trail running fuel my passion for playing outside. I met my husband in 2009 out on a trail run, and we married in 2012 on the north end of Jenny Lake.

Fitness journey: My passion for all things wellness started at a young age growing up in a highly active family. As a teenager started running barefoot on the beach in my hometown Laguna Beach, California. In college, I started lifting weights and got my first fitness job at Laguna Girls Gym. The winter of 1987/88, I made the move to Park City to spend the season skiing. Right away, I started taking personal training clients at Summit Sports Medicine and working as a physical therapy aide. Along with amazing hiking, I found a love for mountain biking. In 1995, my daughter was born, and I made the move to Jackson Hole. I started running and mountain biking again to get my body back in tip top shape. Once I stared trail running, I ditched the bike and have kept my feet on the ground. Oh, the places you can go on a long trail run! My first personal training job in Jackson was at Jackson Hole Athletic Club and operated my own massage therapy business. From there, I have operated independently as a trainer, coach, group fitness instructor, and holistic nutritionist.

When not at VIM: If it’s summer, I am most likely out on the trail going for a long trail run with my husband. After a hot day on the trail, we usually cool off in the river flyfishing. In the snowy months, my skis are on my feet. I’m either skiing at the village or somewhere in the backcountry.

My Jackson Hole story: I finished college at George Washington University, packed up my car, and headed west. My goal was like most who move to Jackson...play for a winter season and then move on. That didn't happen. I've happily called Jackson home since 2003.

Fitness journey: My parents encouraged me to have an active lifestyle starting in early childhood. I grew up horseback riding, playing tennis and swimming. I first started attending 6 am indoor cycling classes in high school. After college, I started skiing, hiking and mountain biking consistently. I became a Schwinn® Indoor Cycling and Indo-Row® coach in 2012. My fitness goal is to just keep moving. The work I accomplish inside helps me motivate for my next adventure outside.

My Jackson Hole story: I moved to Jackson in 2013 with my husband, Brandon and son, Declan. We relocated from Chicago which was a sidestep from the mountains of Colorado. We came full circle and have never looked back. Originally from Florida, I quickly fell in love with the Tetons, the wildlife, and the like-minded people.

Fitness journey: Before leaving the sunshine state, I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Communications. Equipped with a love of sports I worked for a sports marketing firm, and then a minor league hockey team. I started my fitness journey in Colorado, and then on to Chicago where I worked in homes and gyms from the Michigan Mile to the North Shore. An avid runner since my HS cross country team, I loved Chicago's lakefront and the endless list of 5Ks, and Half Marathons. Group fitness found me in Jackson and I have loved every minute. The community, the camaraderie, the fun.

My Jackson Hole story: I graduated from college in May of 2021 and drove from North Carolina to Wyoming three days later! I worked on Triangle X Ranch my first summer and obviously had to see what the winter was all about. Here I am over 2 years later!

Fitness journey: Growing up with my mom as a dietitian, I had a strong foundation and knowledge about how to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Running and working out kept me grounded in college and has always been an important outlet for me. I did some exercise classes in high school but didn’t discover how much I loved group fitness until moving to Jackson. I fell in love with BARRE at a local YOGA studio, and completed my teacher training in June of 2022. I was so excited for the opportunity to strengthen my abilities as a student and a teacher at VIM, joining the team in 2023. The community y'all have built here is amazing and love being a part of it.

Most don’t know: I graduated from Sewanee, a tiny university in the mountains of Tennessee, with a degree in psychology.
